The WILD STYLE Of Lee George Quinones***messymandella***

What others may label as trash, can become your treasure.

What one considers treasure may become your worst enemy.

Graffiti  helped pave the way for freedom of expression for artist who didn’t have enough financial backing or resources to gain artitic direction they transformed everything  into art.

Do I want some to paint on the side of my condo?

HELL NO!

However, every time I hear a train I anticipate the free art show.

I toast to those that have entertainment me at the train tracks.

I admire those who opened the eyes for the people, that would get ignored if no one would have explored, and taken a chance.

It is art, just like Hip-Hop that explores our love for the people, and frustrations.

I disagree when Nas said, Hip Hop is dead, it is the audiences get older and the  barz are low and harder to detect.

Graffiti and art in the exposed the world to urban art in the 1970’s and 1980’s.`

Part 1:The Tortured Soul Of Jean Michel Basquiat***messymandella***

jean_michel_basquiat1

What is up with the relentless name-check of Jean Michel Basquiat?  Jay Z mentioned his name fifty-eleven times on “Holy Grail!” Now for artist of the culture,  Jean Michel has always been a part of  our being.  Now, some of us have  purchased print work, and books about the late artist. I incorporate  Jean Michel on my Twitter Background, and did it way before it became cool to jump on the bandwagon.

Jean Michel will always remain a paradox and  burnt out tortured soul, who  sadly he knew  was being exploited.  Obviously  he was correct. He knew people would utilize  his name and life to fatten their pockets.  It just seems fake that every rapper now is on the Basquiat bandwagon.  Jean Michel died in 1988 . True lovers of his work know Basquiat may have been very excited about being name checked, but not surprised. His entire life he dealt with paranoia ,and fake friends.

Maybe  it is  mandatory to name check your love for the culture, but his art was unsurpassed and unmitigated. Jean Michel Basquiat lived and died, with very little appreciation of his own talent. Before Jean Michel was a renowned artist he was a Graffiti Artist by the moniker of “SAMO” and used mindful and jibberish sayings with his friend Al Diaz, that gained a following by on-lookers. Samo (Same Old Shit) and Al Diaz both grew apart, and Jean Michel Basquiat spray painted ,”SAMO Is Dead!”

Homeless, Jean Michel needed money, because he was constantly running away from home. He was devastated when his mom was confined to a mental hospital, and claimed that his dad abused him. Jean Michel numerous relationships with men and women. He had an unhealthy obsession with all drugs, and women. He had a horrible Heroine addiction that…
