Billie Holiday “Strange Fruit” And Julia Holter – “World” ***messymandella***

Have you ever been hypnotized or lifted up to another place or captivated by an original voice? With technology anyone can auto tune a singing voice. You can’t auto-tune talent. Two women with 2 different backgrounds and decades of musical separation, intrigue those that believe a unique voice is not something you can create in a studio. A voice is a gift, or as in this case, a warning to the world of confusion, and the state of the world we live in . You hear  a painful, but hauntingly beautiful  voice, but were you also listening?

If you have not had a chance to experience this phenomenal,  these two women will definitely relax and trouble you because of the heart-felt pain, but elaborate similarities of  their voices.

The music of the late Billie Holiday, still transforms historians because of the pain.
The demons that tortured Billie,  in her destructive life also tortured the late Whitney Houston. Yes, life plaques celebrities with beauty and talent even if it is more than  40 years apart.

Artist will usually have one addictive down-fall,  because their talent is too powerful to contain, and even in the case of Whitney, Cissy said her talent scared her.

I also deal with that  the feeling, of wondering ,”Why am I seeing this, How can I create this? Why am I telling these stories?”

That melancholy  voice transforms the electricity in your  body, and it can’t escape you. You can imagine standing where Billie Holiday stood, when she first saw that body swinging from that tree. It is history, pain and struggle and a gift  that was merely too intense for one person to contain.

Julia’s  Holters’ voice might be the last sound you hear before you leave this earthly life. It is a heavenly but depressing voice that haunts most. It  is time to listen and judge the similarities in this songs and the beauty of both women, with different backgrounds, decades, and musical training that captivate any audience. Julia will leave her own space in history.

We also know some of the best voices of our time, are barely heard and sadly will not reach that well deserved pinnacle of success. Hip Hip would not be anything, without samples, musical exploration and a vast appreciation to open your mind, and step away from the mundane. Create your own sound, and make your name and voice that next generations will appreciate. Billie Holiday died in 1959 and we still appreciate the gift and curse that she left behind.

You know when you hear Julia’s voice, that this will be the last song you will sing,or is it? What happened?

Never  have I heard a voice so transforming, as this Domino Recording Artist.

Is she telling you good-bye, for good?

What is you trying to escape?

Julia Holter appears to be  possessed with the spirits of Billie Holiday and Karen Carpenter

Listen for yourself!

Meet Domino Recording Artist, Julia Holter!

Baseball Legend Ernie Banks: Segregation and Baseball***messymandella*** ‘

“Sometimes when I’d hit a home run into the bleachers, I’d imagine the ball being caught by a kid and making his day. Then I’d think, ‘Someday, I might have to ask that kid for a job.’ I can’t imagine any of today’s players needing to ask anybody for a job after baseball.”– Ernie Banks

“You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren’t happy in one place, chances are you won’t be happy anyplace.”-Ernie Banks

“Loyalty and friendship, which is to me the same, created all the wealth that I’ve ever thought I’d have.”-Ernie Banks

love * hurt * destruction * amy jade winehouse ***messymandella***

When Amy Winehouse graced the world with her “Blue Eyed Soul” she had the world captivated.  Amy had her own style and a distinct voice that could easily rival any of our jazz greats. She was loved by millions and had  the world at her feet. She came into  the Music business with a sense of purpose, and an innovative way to reinvent soul, and transform it into her unique adaptation that no one could duplicate. She changed perception of music in terms of infusing reggae, soul, and jazz in her recordings. Amy Winehouse was compared to Dusty Springfield and even Billie Holiday. Why did we lose her?

Amy Jade, left all her talent and life behind after only  walking the Earth for   27 years. Now she is  a member of infamous 27 Club she will be one of those “what if they would have lived?” conversations for years to come.

When Amy married Blake Felder -Civil her appearance and behavior became a circus in itself. The couple would fight and walk around the street with bruises and would even cause disruption on prison visits, and they had to search her Signature Beehive for contraband.

As her popularity grew her financial and professional life took a back seat and she began  to concentrate on her social life instead of  talent. Later rapid rumors of drug and alcohol abuse were later confirmed. Amy was seen on drugs and alcohol on various forms of   video  and pictures. The reporters of the publication “Sun”  printed a damaging video of Amy smoking Crack Cocaine on film. Sadly one of her own peers sold the footage to the tabloid.

Amy  Winehouse was an attractive girl who later lost teeth, weight, and her own voice began to diminish, due to her lifestyle. Her legal problems and show performances suffered because of her addiction, and she wasn’t allowed in the United States to attend a performance, because of her reputation and legal problems. Some of her live performances were down right embarrassing, but Amy wanted to prove to the world she was still a singer.  Her fans kept waiting for her to make the ultimate comeback and silence all the negativity in her personal life.

Amy Winehouse made her comeback, or so we thought during this time. Sadly, her physical and personal life still controlled every fiber in her being. Of course it effected her voice, and  her comeback  was ridiculed and she went into a deeper alcoholic and drug related self medicated process. Amy  looked confused and intoxicated at every performance in her last days. We  kept waiting for her to come back, but she never was able to shake off those demons. What could have happened? Who would  Amy Winehouse be today, if she  could have been sober and demon free?

Now the world will have to wonder what could have been for the  Deceased Lioness, known as Amy Jade Winehouse?

Here is the documentary.

Chrisette Michelle: Unsung But Admired***messymandella***

Admiration, and Unsung may seem like a paradox to most artistic critics. Arts will embrace the many facets of performance, fashion, and  heavenly talent! When Chrisette Michelle  opened her voice, this body of music, provides you with that  feeingl the wonderment  in her voice. Chrisette will always change her personal hair styles and clothing, that is a given.  All Chrisette fans know this, if you have ridden with the songstress thus far.

I didn’t feel a personal connection to her  Maybach Collaboration. I knew that was not going to make her proud in the end. She lost that authentic, universally acknowledged Chrisette Michelle genuineness that sets her in her own lane. Now, she appears to be more comfortable with her new lifestyle and vocally grown! With a voice similar to Ella Fitzgerald  that old soul in her voice reminds you that Neo-Soul is not dead, just for the moment unsung.

Adele s k y f a l l

SkyFall

                          http://youtu.be/StJLvbPIvTw

New mom, Adele  has officially sold Ten Million Albums.

I know it was because of her Beautiful Negro Spiritual “Rolling In The Deep!”

Adele had seventeen 1922 choirs in that chorus.

She had to resurrect  Bessie Smith, Harriett Tubman…

“Rolling In The Deep”  lyrics were warnings to everyone’s partner!

My interpretation was pretty much, “I’m not letting you back in, YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF!”
