Beyoncé – Superpower ft. Frank Ocean ***messymandella***

When the palm of my two hands, hold each other
That feels different
From when your hands are in mine
That’s just the way it is, hmmm
And when my voice is screaming out, to my own ears, uh
That feels different
From when I hear yours
Now that’s just the way it is
And when I’m standing in this mirror
After all these years
What I’m viewing is a little different
From what your eyes show ya
I guess I didn’t see myself before ya
Moving forward

(Super power)
A subtle power
(Super power)
A tough love
(Super power)
Uh huh, like a shark
(Super power)
Ooh, Like a bear
A tough love
And I thought the world would revolve
I thought the world would revolve, without us
Without us, without us, without us
But nothing I know could slow us down
They couldn’t slow us down
I thought I could live without you
Hey, hey
Cause nothing I know can break us
Down
They can’t break us down
And just like you I can’t be scared
And just like you I hope I’m spared
But it’s tough love
I know you feel it in the air
Even the babies know it’s there
Tough love
(Super power)
The laws of the world tell us what goes sky
And what falls
It’s a super power
(Super power)
The laws of the world never stopped us once
Cause together we got plenty super power

A subtle power
(Super power)
A tough love
(Super power)
Uh huh, like a shark
(Super power)
Ooh, too much to bear
And I thought the world would revolve
I thought the world would revolve, without us
Without us, without us, without us
But nothing I know could slow us down
They couldn’t slow us down
I thought I could live without you
But together we’ve got plenty power
But nothing I know can break us
Down
They can’t break us down
Yes we can
Couldn’t break us down
They couldn’t break us down

‘Everybody could be Eric Garner': Choke-hold Victim’s Daughter Hopes For Justice (EXCLUSIVE)***messymandella***

Erica Garner, the daughter of the late Eric Garner, demands justice and is fighting to ignite change in our system.  Daniel Pantaleo, murderer of and Eric Garner destroyed our nation. If you recall, Eric Garner is the  grandfather who was brutalized and choked dead on the ground while the NYPD lynched him one afternoon.

Millions have  marched in other continents and the system and indictment requirements and definitions clearly should be evaluated. The verdict is an embarrassment to the justice system. Erica, his daughter demonstrates with protesters in the New York City borough of Staten Island on Thursday how her father died. She expresses her  disdain, and utter pain  and loss that her family will share this Holiday Season, for some damn cigarettes.

Eric’s murderer Daniel, is a free man

Eric Garner is a dead man

We have given a free pass to anyone that murders innocent citizens, and we were naive to believe that justice was on our side, and that all lives mattered.

If  someone is choking in a restaurant  and someone says, “I can’t breathe…”  you as a human would run to their defense and  try to save their life.

You don’t choke the victim more and ask for others to help you choke him and then stand around his body and  whisper to your conspirators  over their dead body.

Barbaric

Well, if the NYPD were in that same restaurant they would be run to the  choking victim and invite others to apply more force on their neck and suck the life out of the undeserving victim.

No weapon, reason, excuse or humanity in sight.

Fashion Icon’s Blake Lively: Always Have “IT!” ***messymandella***

Women and men must understand that YOU inspire your wardrobe, your personality concerns and your swagger breathe life into your clothes.

Fashion is important and  never jump on the bandwagon with each trend. Just because it is a trend does not mean it is a trend designed to compliment you. Unfortunately, only some of us are born with “IT!”

It takes self assurance, risk taking and fearlessness that others envy and secretly lust for, even if they pretend to disregard that you are in your own league, let them know you snatch wigs quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Some are born with the “IT!” while others have to find their niche in fashion and create their unique style that can not be duplicated. 10 women are able to wear the same pair of jeans and create  10 vastly different interpretations of how that one pair of jeans should be worn.

Your body type must be  taken into  consideration during your  fashion introspection. Love your looks, Love Your Body, and Love Your “IT” that  you were born with…
If you don’t have “IT” , then you  better locate “IT!” and some of us done forgot where we put “IT!”

REVISITED: Ledisi: Colorism And Ignorance Inside Of Black Women***messymandella***

Sista-Beauty-Talent

I have always wondered about colorism. I  am short, light skin, and a weave queen. Some women would describe that as “fake.”

I tell them get your hair out that ponytail holder, get an upgrade. I also know that people who wear natural hair at times thinks that brings them closer to the “Motherland.” I’m here to tell you, that you can ignorant about your culture,no matter what you think. Hair does not advertise  your intelligence.

I myself have made jokes about Ledisi not being pretty. I am so sorry for that. In my ignorance, I succumbed to racism. I apologize for anyone else that has laughed at her or called her ugly. She has dark skin, big lips, and big eyes. She is  Beautiful. Women are the worst critics of other women. Oh honey, I know.

Ledisi, admitted in an interview that she never thought she was ugly until she became a Neo Soul Powerhouse. In her book she discusses her looks and her definition of  beauty. Here is an exerpt:

LEDISI- “In the book, there’s a chapter called ‘Beauty’: I talk about how I tell myself ‘I’m beautiful’ everyday because the world says something different. I didn’t know I was considered ‘ugly’ to someone until they said it, because all of my life I’d been told I was beautiful, especially by my mother in particular, so when I got out there in the world, I heard differently.

There are also other versions of beauty out there and I talk about those, saying that the woman we typically would consider ‘beautiful’ may look that way on the outside to the rest of the world, but on the inside, she may be ‘broken.’ There are so many things in other chapters that I talk about: ‘Love.’ ‘Forgiveness.’ ‘Faith.’ ‘Exiting Stage Left,’ all of these different aspects that we can learn from. Men may enjoy some parts of “…..Alright,” since there are men that I celebrate—there’s a quote from President Obama inside that speaks to learning from your failures, for example—but it’s especially for women because I am a woman and that’s all I can really  talk about (laughs). The book has a lot of great stuff inside that I’m proud of: photographs that I’ve never shown, pictures of family members that I don’t really talk about (publically) and those are the people who really helped me to get to where I am.”

Ledisi,

You Are Beautiful!

Doesn’t matter what anyone ignorant says. You actually have pretty teeth, and gorgeous chocolate skin.

I wonder can the people that call YOU ugly, say the same thing?
